The Hermosa Community
Upcoming Events
We run together the light that connects our history, culture, and community.
This community gathering is part of Costa Rica’s National Torch Relay, a tradition that honors independence and celebrates collective identity. In Hermosa, we come together to carry the torch, share the journey, and celebrate the cultural richness that shapes our territory.
It is a moment to connect generations, strengthen community bonds, and honor the values of freedom, solidarity, and shared belonging.
We come together to decide—collectively—the path of our community.
The General Assembly is a key space for participation and local governance, where we share progress, reflect on the path we’ve walked, and make collective decisions for Hermosa’s future.
This gathering strengthens transparency, shared responsibility, and commitment to our community.

We come together to plant trees, care for the land, and strengthen the relationship between community and nature—recognizing the territory as a living system we are part of.
We build—together—the heart of our community.
This participatory workshop opens the architectural design process for Hermosa’s future Community Center. It will be a space to imagine, propose, and co-create a place that responds to the real needs of those who live in this territory.
Through collective dynamics and design tools, we will explore how we want this space to feel, function, and integrate with community life and the natural environment.
ACH hosted a community information session to explain the significance of Patrimonio Natural del Estado (PNE) lands in Hermosa and the legal protections that apply to them. Residents gathered to learn about the role these public lands play in protecting coastal ecosystems and to better understand how the community can help safeguard them for the future.
In 2025, ACH received national recognition at the 33rd Contributors to Quality of Life Betterment Awards for its work protecting Hermosa’s natural heritage through community-led initiatives. The award recognized the organization’s efforts to conserve ecosystems, strengthen community participation, and promote responsible territorial stewardship.
ACH set up a drawing table, inviting residents and visitors to illustrate the landscapes, wildlife, and places that represent Hermosa to them. The activity encouraged people of all ages to share their perspective of the territory in a simple and creative way.
The drawings later served as inspiration for elements of ACH’s visual identity and illustrations for communications materials.
Members of ACH helped carry the Costa Rican National Independence Torch (Antorcha Nacional) to Playa Hermosa as part of the country’s annual independence celebration. Community members participated in the relay and gathered to welcome the torch, marking the occasion with a small local celebration of civic tradition.
