1. Our Goal
Hermosa is privileged with some of the larger extensions (36 hectares) of State Natural Heritage lands in the Nicoya Peninsula. Our efforts focus on keeping these areas free from illegal use and abuse by maintaining clear boundaries and promoting effective stewardship of coastal forests and wetlands through community-based conservation actions. In doing so, we support these natural spaces in thriving as healthy ecosystems for future generations.
2. Project actions include:
Legal and physical protection of the PNE boundaries through documenting and formalizing zone boundaries, installing protective barriers where necessary to prevent invasions or damage to the ecosystem.
Active conservation of the PNE territory in collaboration with the greater community on damage prevention, waste prevention/removal, reporting deforestation or abuse.
Community education and awareness-raising about the PNE and the coastal environment.
Create and maintain a Geographic Information System that enables informed decision-making about the territory.
